It starts it's journey as a forged billet of Japanese 1095 high carbon steel, layered 300-400 times along with 15N20 alloy steel, common for tool steel quality. The billet is cut, ground, re-forged, and shaped into the straitback knife blade you see here. Damascus steel is some of the sharpest steel you can find, as it features microscopic serrations on the edge when sharpened properly. Solid Damascus steel is also used to bolster the knife at the front and back of the handle. Speaking of the handle, the Coyote Damascus Steel Knife features American Bison/Buffalo horn handle grips which are also handmade. Solid brass pins secure the grips to the blade. Included with every Coyote Damascus Steel Knife is a genuine leather holster sheath and belt loop. Keep the blade lightly wet with oil to prevent any sort of aging on the steel. The best oils are often gun oil like Hoppes and Balistol, but plain motor oil or 3-in-1 will work fine too.
