Hunt For Life™ Blackfeet Stainless Steel Full Tang Gut Hook Survival Knife. Hunt For Life™ Blackfeet Stainless Steel Full Tang Gut Hook Hunting Knife. A gut hook blade is a special type of blade in which the spine has a sharpened semi-circle ground into it. A "gut hook" is more of a blade feature than it is an actual blade shape. Most gut hook knives are actually skinners with the gut hook feature added to the back spine. This gut hook is constructed from stainless steel with a satin finish. The wide belly is an excellent choice for slicing. To use a gut hook you make a small incision in the skin of the lower abdomen, or you can start at the top of the sternum, it makes no difference. You then insert the gut hook and sort of unzip the skin. There are of course more dynamics to it than just this but you get the idea of what it is for. The tang extends the length of the handle. The handle is constructed of black dollar wood with three mosaic pins. Combined with this great knife is a hand sewn leather sheath with the Hunt For Life™ logo tooled in the center with a belt loop. With no extra bulk wear it on your person or store it in your pack.
